Obedience ran through Mary’s life from the beginning. She said yes when she could not have understood what that yes would cost. She bore it through Bethlehem, through Egypt, through thirty years of ordinary life in Nazareth, and then through Calvary. Her faithfulness was not a single moment. It was a long, unbroken line.

Why enter the Church after years of living the faith? |
|
|
Three attempts at RCIA. Years of showing up without fully arriving. Then a flooded house, a summer in Costa Rica, and a conversation on the beach about Fatima.

Is there a daily devotion that keeps you grounded? |

“The Rosary. We pray it every night as a family, the Angelus too, the St. Bridget prayers as a 12-year devotion, and our home is consecrated to the Sacred Heart. But the Rosary is the main devotion outside of Mass.”
He also fasts — eating only one meal a day, in the evening. For Lent, the family gave up all meat, not just Fridays. “It’s tough, but we try to offer it up.”

What do you hope your daughters say about you someday? |

“That hockey wouldn’t be the first thing they mention. That I was a solid father and husband. It will probably be hard not to mention hockey. But hopefully they would see my devotion as a parent and servant.”
